Say potato, say Agrico
At our farm in Nakuru, each year we transform 400 tonnes of imported basic seed into 6,300 tonnes of Kenyan certified seed potatoes resulting in over 90,000 tonnes of Kenyan ware potatoes in its first season. We therefore proudly say that 99.6% of our volume is Kenyan produce!
With this we contribute to solving the biggest bottleneck in potato cultivation in Kenya; the poor quality of seed potatoes. For Kenyan farmers, working with high-quality seed potatoes certified by Kephis results in a significant increase in yields and profits.
“We invest in the growth of our growers and buyers, and feel deeply involved with them and their progress. We provide sound advice to our growers and buyers and share our knowledge with others.”
We are dedicated and professionals in every step involved in the process of growing potatoes.
This helps us to ensure high quality and full support to all our customers and partners.
Agrico operates as both an architect and partner in the development and optimisation of sustainable potato value chains. Our goal is to achieve excellent growth for everyone in the chain by increasing efficiency, quality and food security.
Our mission is to contribute to food security for a growing global population. Thanks to the power of partnership and our expertise in the chain, we are able to supply high-quality seed and ware potatoes worldwide. We develop innovative varieties to suit every spot on the planet where professional, successful and sustainable potato cultivation is possible.
We also create and enhance the sustainability of potato value chains around the world. This professionalisation of the potato value chain ensures a better quality of potato cultivation and our main priorities in this are innovation, humanity and the environment.
In 2015 two reputable organisations: Migotiyo Plantations Ltd. & Agrico BV. decided to join forces, resulting in the establishment of Agrico Potato Services Africa Ltd.
All year round, we produce and supply large quantities of top-quality certified seed potatoes on our farms in Nakuru County. Based on our 'connected farmer approach', our seed potatoes are sold across the country through farmer cooperatives and self-help groups (SHGs). Farmers then produce large volumes of ware potatoes and thus contribute to Kenya's food security and its Big 4 agenda.

We support the sustainability and further optimisation of successful potato value chains that are already in place.
We do this by working together with other input partners who provide high quality solutions for soil testing services, crop nutrition advice and crop protection programmes. But also by connecting farmers to buyers, to service providers for mechanisation or financing and by offering a lot of training.
The farmer remains the core of our focus; my colleagues and I are therefore ready to offer assistance.
